Competitions

Each competition is different, appealing to a certain age group or where particular distances of race are available.  Parents are able to spectate and cheer their child on.  Most meets will charge entry and will sell programmes and raffle tickets for a nominal fee.  If wishing to take photographs, it is essential that you gain permission from the organisers.

One of the earliest competition experiences for most swimmers is the Fife Novice Leagues and the Fife Leagues.  These offer swimmers the opportunity to swim in a free competition but spaces are limited.  If your child is selected to swim, please respond promptly to the email.  If your child doesn’t

One of the earliest competition experiences for most swimmers is the Fife Novice Leagues and the Fife Leagues.  These offer swimmers the opportunity to swim in a free competition but spaces are limited.  If your child is selected to swim, please respond promptly to the email.  If your child doesn’t want to swim the space can be offered to someone else.  In these meets it is usual for each swimmer to only have one or two swims.  If swimmers do not turn up on the day it can prevent the club from entering a relay team and therefore affects their teammates.

The other type of competition we enter is one where you pay for each swim your child does.  Fraser and the coaching staff will identify appropriate competitions for the club to attend.  He will then identify eligible swimmers and select a variety of races they may wish to enter.  An email will be sent out with these suggested swims and a link to the swim meet details will be included.  This will be on www.swimscotland.co.uk which holds the information on all upcoming competitions and also has official results.  Once you go on the website and access the appropriate gala information you will have all the information about the gala.  This will include the date, time, location, cost and the running order of the swims.  You should then decide what swims your child would like to do and email back your confirmation/decision as soon as possible.  A delay in responding may mean your child misses gala entry.

Sometimes meets are oversubscribed, so you may not get all your swims accepted.  Therefore, don’t pay until you have received a confirmation email stating what swims your child has been accepted for.  Payment is made to the InCAS bank account with the competition details in the reference section.  Once you have paid, please email treasury@swim-incas.org
